The Acai Berry
The acai berry is a tiny, violet-colored purple berry that is considered to be a super food. It has a delicious taste, reminiscent of chocolate, and it also has many nutritional benefits. The acai berry has a high level of antioxidants, which are thought to be connected to a slower rate of aging; it contains high levels of fiber, amino acids, and vitamin C, fights cancer cells, slows down aging and increases energy.
The Pomegranate
The pomegranate is an ancient fruit mentioned in the Book of exodus. It is one of the healthiest fruits on the globe. It has high levels of antioxidants; it is a great source of potassium and is high in electrolytes which help the body maintain the proper amount of fluids. Pomegranates help to decrease the production of plaque in arteries, lower bad cholesterol, and increase the levels of good cholesterol. The pomegranate has an orange or deep yellow color which means it contains beta carotene. Extracts of this fruit are believed to inhibit the growth of some types of cancer cells.
So, which food is better, the acai berry or the pomegranate? The answer lies in the annals of human behavior. No food is beneficial if it is not eaten. Many of us have berries in our fruit bowls or in the frig. How many of us regularly stock pomegranates or pomegranate juice? All else being equal there is really no contest. Humans are snackers, and berries are easy to snack on. The acai berry tastes good, needs no preparation, and it’s good for you, so it is an ideal snack.
